Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15th September 2026

YourSound Ltd ("YourSound", "we", "us") runs a live music discovery app for London venues. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, what we do with it, and the rights you have over it.

We are the data controller for the information described here, which means we decide how and why it is used.

YourSound Ltd Company number [COMPANY NUMBER], registered in England and Wales Great Lodge Farm, Cadley, Marlborough, SN8 4NE, United Kingdom hello@yoursound.live

Who this policy applies to

Anyone who uses the YourSound app. The app is intended for people aged 18 and over. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up and do not allow accounts for under-18s, because the app surfaces events at licensed venues — bars, clubs, pubs and breweries.

What information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details — your email address and first name, when you sign up.

  • Date of birth — used solely to confirm you are 18 or over. We store the fact that you passed this check and your date of birth; we do not use it for anything else.

  • Your preferences — the music genres and venue types you choose during onboarding, and any changes you make later.

  • Feedback — anything you send us through the app's feedback form.

Information created as you use the app

  • Events you save or react to — your Lineup, and the reactions you give during onboarding.

  • What you are shown and what you tap — which events appear in your feed, and when you tap through to a ticket link. We record these to understand which recommendations work. You do not submit this information; it is created automatically as you use the app, which is why we are telling you about it explicitly here.

  • Approximate location — only if you grant location permission, and only to show you what is on near you. The app works without it, and you can turn it off at any time in your device settings.

What we do not collect

We do not collect payment information — the app is free and we process no payments. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising or tracking tools. We do not sell your data, and we never share it for advertising.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

UK data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for each purpose.

Your consent

Our legitimate interests, explained. We have an interest in making the app genuinely useful, which means showing you gigs you would want to go to rather than a list of everything happening in London. We have balanced this against your interests and think it is reasonable because the information involved is limited (genres, venue types, what you saved and tapped), it is not sensitive, it is never shared or sold, and it produces a direct benefit to you. You can object at any time — see Your rights. We have recorded this assessment and will provide it on request.

Withdrawing consent. Turn off location permission in your device settings to withdraw location consent. Turn off marketing email in the app's settings. Neither affects anything we did before you withdrew.

How we personalise what you see

Because this is automated and it shapes what you see, we want to be plain about how it works.

When you sign up you rank the genres you care about and choose venue types you like. As you use the app we also note the events you save and the ones you tap through on. From those, we calculate a score for every upcoming event, based on:

  • how well the event's genres match the genres you ranked, and how highly you ranked them

  • whether it is at a type of venue you chose

  • how far away it is from you, if you have shared your location

  • how specific the event's tagging is — a gig tagged with one genre that matches you scores higher than one tagged with ten

Events with higher scores appear higher in your feed, and some are shown with a match badge. We also build a "persona" — a short description of your taste — from the same information.

This is personalisation, not a decision about you. Nothing here affects your legal rights, your access to anything, or how you are treated. It changes the order of a list of gigs. If you would rather we did not do it, contact us and we will stop.

Who we share it with

Supabase — our database, authentication and hosting provider, acting as our data processor under a written agreement. Your account details, preferences and saved events are stored on their infrastructure. Our data is hosted in the United Kingdom, so it is not transferred outside the UK.

  • Apple — distributes the app and, if you use it, provides sign-in. Apple's own privacy policy governs what they do with information you give them directly.

  • Apple's iTunes service — we query it for short music previews. We send an artist's name; we do not send any information about you.

How long we keep your information

Account information, preferences and saved events — for as long as your account is active.

  • Records of what you were shown and tapped — in raw form for 90 days, after which we keep only aggregated figures that cannot be linked back to you.

  • Feedback — we keep the message, but when you delete your account we remove the link between it and you.

When you delete your account, we permanently delete your personal information from our live systems. Deleted data may persist in our encrypted backups for up to seven days before those backups are overwritten, after which it is gone. Deletion is genuine — it is not a deactivation and the account cannot be restored.

Whether you have to give us this information

You need to give us an email address, a first name and your date of birth to have an account — without them we cannot provide the service. Everything else is optional: location is entirely up to you, and you can use the app without choosing preferences, though the recommendations will be less useful.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can:

  • Access — ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.

  • Correct — ask us to fix anything inaccurate.

  • Delete — ask us to erase your information. You can do this yourself in the app: Profile → Delete Account.

  • Object or restrict — object to processing based on legitimate interests, including the personalisation described above, or ask us to limit what we do with your data.

  • Withdraw consent — for location or marketing, at any time.

  • Portability — ask for a copy of the information you gave us, in a usable format.

To exercise any of these, email hello@yoursound.live. We will respond within one month.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, tell us first: email hello@yoursound.live with "Data protection complaint" in the subject line. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days, investigate it, and tell you the outcome.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at any time, whether or not you have come to us first. Their website is https://ico.org.uk and their helpline is 0303 123 1113.

Data protection officer

We have assessed whether we are required to appoint a data protection officer and concluded that we are not, given the scale of the service. We keep this under review.

How we protect your information

We use secure authentication, row-level security controls on our database so your data is only accessible to you, and secure storage for authentication tokens on your device. No system is completely secure, but we take this seriously and we have a plan for responding to any breach.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If we make a significant change we will update the date at the top and let you know in the app.
